It’s hands-free convenience that’s great for when you’re busy working or commuting.Listen and chat for up to 16 hours with a rechargeable internal battery that’s easily powered up via USB. You’ll get up to 28 hours of listening time with only Bluetooth on, and 33 hours with only active noise cancelling on.When you’re not listening, you can easily fold up your Philips SHB8850NC Noise-Cancelling Headphones to stow in a bag or backpack. Wearing them is more enjoyable with discreet hinges for smooth adjustments plus a headband and soft memory foam earcups that adapt to your head.
Yes, the buttons are badly placed and the design leaves a lot to be desired, but the NFC, Bluetooth and noise cancelling features are impressive for £90, and the sound quality is plenty good enough for our ears. If you’re looking for a dependable pair of budget NC headphones, these are a good call – especially if you’ve got a long flight to contend with.

- The Bluetooth and noise cancelling features on these headphones is great. Very simple and quick to connect to all the devices that I have tried. Once the noise cancelling is activated the rumbling and back ground noise of the train is instantly gone leaving you to sit back and enjoy the commute to work. The are comfortable to wear for longer periods. Where as some of my other head phones have left my ears aching you don’t notice you’re wearing them after a while. The battery in these is fairly decent I’d say closer to 13-14 hours on one charge.
- Noise reduction – very good at reducing surrounding noise, you can immediately tell when this function is enabled. Sound – decent quality for music (all varieties) and tv (no delay from picture to sound – on Bluetooth setting). Volume level is impressive. Battery life – fully charged battery lasts about a week (based on a couple of hours usage per day). Build quality / aesthetics – feels like a decent product (sturdy and durable) and nicely designed. Functionality – easy and quick to connect, controls are easy to use once you find your way around them.
- Great sound quality and noise reduction ,good battery life 12 to 14 hours.easily synced to all my appliances ,great for the train.
- Comfortable to wear, bluetooth works with with phone but not PS4, audio quality is good. However noise cancelling is a poor. There is very little difference between the NC being on and off.
- Ok headphones. I own really many headphone types, brands and models. These have volume way below average, although still acceptable, so the stated impedence or sensitivity values, both good, are not real. The worst point for me is the frequent distortion at high volume, which as I said is necessary given the fact that these are quiet by nature. In bassy tracks encoded at low bit rate it becomes essentially unbearable. However if you listed Jazz and Classical and you encode at 256 kbps these will do a good job.
- Can’t really fault them great set of head phone at a very reasonable price.
