PROS:
- I have been using Braun’s Silk Epil epilators for about 15 years now, and in that time have only owned 3 models.So despite the initial cost, which may seem high, these units REALLY do last.Hair stays away for a long time, personally I find I have very little hair if I epilate about once a month.Painless when you get used to it, but always bearable.Never again will you have to “grow” your hair like you do for waxing.
- This model has a wider head with 40 tweezers and therefore it gets the results quickly. I can epilate both legs in less than 5 minutes. It is simple to use and I like the light on the model which acts like a headlight and helps show up areas I need to work more on. The pack has 6 heads including the main epilator head with rollers, a shaver head and two other epilator covers, one for small areas.The roller head was much more comfortable to use compared to my old Series 1 version. I guess this may be due to the massage rollers. My legs were still tingling for 15 minutes after use but it was not painful.
CONS:
- I am afraid the Silk9 is no better than many others priced considerably less, indeed in our home tests we would say it performed well below par.
- It removes 0.5 mm hair but that is still quite long in stubble terms in look and feel. I can get better results with manual tweezers on facial areas. The allowing re growth to get hair long enough to epilate is a downside. It takes about a week of feeling like sandpaper.
