The biggest draw to the Neutron SSDs is the new Phison PS3110-S10 controller that it is equipped with. Built from the ground up, the Phison PS3110-S10 sports a Quad-core CPU, with three cores dedicated to managing flash and maintaining performance, quoting speeds of up to 560MB/s read and 540MB/s write as well as 100K IOPs on read and 90K IOPs on write. - This little thin light weight 480GB SSD pretty much nailed its top read and write speeds. When plugged into a SATA III slot on an Intel Z77 motherboard, according to ATTO disk benchmark suite, sustained write speeds of 540MB/s and read speeds of 560MB/S were almost instant. Basically this little drive reaches the highest possible speeds the current SSD hardware architecture can achieve.
- This thing is fast. It makes fast look slow, lol. Let’s put it this way, With my old mechanical hard drive, it took 64 seconds to boot up my system. With this in, it takes 26 seconds. I have an old core 2 duo extreme processor with 8gb of ddr2 ram. If you have an old system and can put a sata drive in it, use this ssd. I was kinda on the wall with this or crucial. I tried a Samsung ssd, but their customer support was horrible and the drive kept on having errors, even on a fresh install.
- I bought this SSD and installed it in my late 2011 Macbook Pro 15″. It is absolutely flawless. My start-up time went from a minute to 20 seconds or less and multitasking is a breeze. I will be buying more of these when it comes time to build my gaming PC in the future.
- Crucial makes a couple of drives that have slightly lower speeds, but a fair bit lower price. If you are hitting your budget limit, you are probably better off going with the Crucial drives and spending the difference on a better video card or processor. While the price of the XTs aren’t bad for what you get, they are a premium drive with a higher price.
- This is now my 3rd purchase of this product as I have upgraded my computer and every time I purchase this product it crashes your main operating system in less than 6 months of getting it .
