- I am using this memory in a ASUS Z170-A socket 1151 motherboard. An earlier review said the rated speed/timings didn’t work on an X99-based motherboard, which may be the case, but I can verify that this kit works as advertised on my particular system. All modules were immediately recognized on POST and all I had to do was set the timings (16-18-18-35), the speed (2666MHz), and the voltage (1.2v) in the BIOS and I was done.
- This RAM is on the approved list for the ASRock X99 Extreme 6, but it wouldn’t run at 2666MHz until I updated the board’s BIOS, and even then I had to set the speed manually. Not sure if that’s the fault of the RAM or the board, but it’s working fine now so I have no complaints.
- This should run at 2666MHz natively. I tried it on both ASUS X99 Deluxe and ASRock X99 WS (both have the latest BIOS firmware updated) and MBs will take it at 2133MHz. If I specify 2666MHz or load XMP profile, both will not boot until I clear CMOS. Called both ASRock and Corsair. ASRock says the CPU I used Intel i7-5820K won’t support that frequency which does not sound right. I actually am using G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 series 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2400 (PC4-19200) Intel X99 Desktop Memory Model F4-2400C15Q-32GRR2 and run at 2400Mhz on both the ASUS and ASRock MBs and it works without using XMP. Corsair says all 8 SIMM must be purchased as a whole package which does not make sense either. The product comes with 2 boxes each contains 4 SIMMs. Tried what Corsair suggested to use only 4 SIMMs at a time and still got exactly the same result no matter which 4 SIMMs. Corsair indicated that they are willing to issue RMA and send replacement. I don’t think this is something that can be solved just by replacement.
- Great product but AsRock X99 extreme 4 fails to post when using the DDR4 at their full rated speed. The problem is with the MB not the DDR4. Note that even with the latest BIOS (2.0) the 4x16GB chips do not work.
