Jaybird X2 Wireless Bluetooth Headphones – Storm White
The Jaybird X2 Wireless Bluetooth Headphones are the natural successors to the Jaybird Bluebuds X, a pair of great-sounding in-ear Bluetooth sports headphones that are disappointingly let down by a poor fit.The fins are little winged pieces of rubber, which sit inside the arches of your ear. The buds, of course, sit inside the ear.You can get both silicone and Comply foam tips, the latter of which are little trickier to fit. The foam and silicone offers different levels of isolation, so whether you want to entirely drown out ambient noise, or prefer hearing some of your surroundings, you’re well covered.
The standard micro-USB charging port, nicely concealed behind the casing of the right earbud, and an easy-to-reach in-line remote remain. That remote can be used to take calls or control music playback, including skipping tracks or cranking up the volume.
There’s plenty of bass, but it doesn’t suffocate the crisp, clean treble. Both high-tempo tracks and audiobooks are treated equally. If you want bass, you’ll get plenty of it; if you want the detail, the X2 delivers on that front too.In terms of battery life, Jaybird claims to offer the same eight hours as its predecessor. This is far more generous than what Jabra and the majority of sports in-ears currently offer. While it sounds impressive, I have some reservations.

- The Jaybird X2 has been in improved in a number of small ways from its predecessor, offering better sweat-proofing, a new matte finish, a more comfortable ear fin design, a better carrying case and improved battery life. It also sounds good and offers a reliable wireless connection.
- The biggest pro i can tell you right out of the gate is that Jaybird nailed the fit this time. You can feel them “lock in” with a great firmness that says that they are not going anywhere. The new ones come with comply tips. The old ones did not. They also changed the design of the secure fit ear pieces and they just feel better this time around. They also have the same clips that keep the wire secure around your neck.
- So why are they a 4 star vs. 5 star? Two reasons: first is that they never quite got loud enough for me on the first go around. I was hoping that that these would get louder. These are solid but they don’t get quite loud enough for me. The second reason is that the sound stage while clean is a bit tinny for my taste.
- It may not offer a comfortable fit (and tight seal) for everyone. This new model looks the same as the old model — the design hasn’t changed — and it’s somewhat expensive.
